Before Your Visit to the
Ambulatory Sugery Center
- The following Physicians have an ownership interest in Christiana Spine Ambulatory Surgery Center. (CSASC)

- Patients are free to utilize any health care facility of their choice.
- Should you have any questions, please bring them to the attention of the Nurse Manager or your Physician.
DAY OF PROCEDURE
- No candy, No gum, No liquids 2 hrs. prior to arriving at CSASC.
- This is mandatory or your procedure will be cancelled.
- Bring a list of all your medications with you. This list will ensure that our chart for you is correct.
- If your doctor has not given you instructions regarding Insulin, or other medication you take regularly, or over the counter medications, be sure to ask him / her what to do.
- If you take blood pressure medication and your doctor has told you not to take it before the procedure, please bring it with you. If you use an inhaler, please bring it.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen, or arthritis medications, either prescribed or over-the-counter. Be sure your doctor knows if you take any other medications that thin your blood.
PATIENTS RECEIVING SEDATION FOR THEIR PROCEDURE
- On the day of your procedure, please have a responsible person with you to drive you home. We WILL NOT perform your procedure if you do not have someone to drive you home. A taxi is acceptable only if you have someone with you. If you are not receiving Sedation, you may drive yourself. We strongly recommend your ride remain at the center while you are here.
- Do not wear jewelry other than rings and wear comfortable fitting clothing.
- Everyone reacts differently to sedation; It may cause unsteadiness. You may want to have a responsible adult remain with you throughout the day of your procedure.
- Bring your insurance cards and driver’s license or picture ID with you to the Center. This information is needed at the office and the CSASC – two separate facilities; please provide it at both places.
- Please contact your insurance company to find out whether or not you have a facility co-pay. If so, this amount will be due the day of your procedure. we accept, CHECK, CASH, M/C, and VISA.
- Your doctor’s office will inform you of arrival time. Please be prompt to allow time for procedure prep. X-ray is used during procedures. Please inform your physician if you are pregnant or think you may be.
- Expect to be here about 1-1/2 hours for procedures requiring anesthetic sedation.
- The Christiana Spine ASC, being a short-term facility, is not in a position to honor advanced directives. Any emergency occurring in the Christiana Spine ASC will be treated as such, and these patients will receive the benefit of an emergency response. Any patients with advanced directives requiring hospitalization will have their forwarded to the hospital at the time of transfer. If you have advanced directives, please bring them with you and give them to the receptionist.

The Christiana Spine Ambulatory Surgery Center is pleased to provide the highest quality of Sedation Care Services for your Pain Management procedure.
Your Sedation is directed by a Board Certified Physician who will oversee the medical direction and supervision of your anesthetic sedation care.
The Center is providing sedation services in order to optimize your safety and comfort during your procedure, and to enable your quick recovery and discharge home.
Your anesthetic sedation, in our fully equipped facility, will be specifically tailored to your individual needs on a moment to moment basis. You will meet your Physician prior to your procedure to discuss your anesthetic sedation process.
You will receive medications through an intravenous line (I.V.) that will cause you to quickly relax. Advanced monitors will be utilized to carefully monitor your heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rhythm, and
breathing.
You will then recover in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) until you are fully ready for discharge home. If you have further questions concerning your anesthetic sedation, please contact the Christiana Spine Ambulatory
